Your Inspiration: Voltaires's Famous RIDDLE ~ ANSWER!

"What is the longest and yet the shortest?
The Swiftest and yet the slowest?
All of us neglect it. Then we all regret it.
Nothing can be done without it.
It swallows up all that is small.
And it builds up all that is great?"
Who am I?
The answer tothe riddle of course is Time.
Long in Eternity yet, none of us have enough of it.
Swift in Enjoyment and forever, when in pain.
We all neglect it.
And of course we cannot live without more of it tomorrow.
It swallows and forgets us if we remain small;
but builds us beyond our life if we do something to be remembered!

Your Health: Avoid the 5 Sleep Zappers to Enjoy Deeper Sleep!

As we age and our bodies and hormones change, so does the quality of our sleep. If our sleep is altered, our productive mental and physical energy during the day is working 40% less than capacity.

The 1st step you can take in achieving healthier deeper sleep is to avoid these 5 biggest sleep killers:

SLEEP KILLER #1. Taking long, late afternoon naps. OK -- you may be so tired you're falling into your coffee or tea and you need toothpicks just to keep your lids open. Keep in mind, taking a daytime nap after 4:00pm will make falling asleep that night that much more difficult because it reduces your homeostatic drive to sleep. In other words, you put havoc on your body's clock. So, when it comes time to go to bed, you aren't sleepy enough to enter zzzzzland.

SLEEP KILLER #2. Often called the "alcohol and cigarette cure". Many people with sleep problems smoke a cigarette or drink a glass of wine before they turn in, hoping it will help them relax. Alcohol may help you fall asleep at first, but it will cause you to wake up during the night. Nicotine is a stimulant, and keeps you wide-awake andn stimulated long after you wish you'd fallen asleep.

SLEEP KILLER #3: Eating or drinking late at night. Our digestive systems don't react well to round-the-clock munching. Having a midnight snack could cause you hours of restless misery later. Try to keep your supper light, and eat no later than 3 hours before bedtime.

SLEEP KILLER #4: Caffeine. Not surprisingly, caffeine isn't just in coffee anymore. Caffeine levels are super-high in energy drinks such as: Red Bull, as well as teas, chocolate and diet supplements.

SLEEP KILLER #5: Watching TV late into the evening. Worse some people watch the late night News containing stress and negative energy and wonder why they feel uptight and can't fall asleep. Some people assume background noise such as: TV or radio - can help them fall asleep more easily. That's not so! Sleeping with music playing or the radio on actually overstimulates the senses, which makes sleep more difficult.

Keep an eye, in future blogs, there will be suggestions of what foods to eat/drink to improve the quality of your sleep.

To your health!

Q #6d - Financial Stress

6d. Financial Stress...

Financial stress is a common complaint that affects every household to some degree. You can recognize financial stress by the pressure it imposes on your family:

  • You worry over bills, especially ones that are overdue.

  • Interest on revolving credit accounts keep pilling up when you only make small payments on bills.

  • You worry over not being able to buy everything you want, especially if your children have to do without the things they want, the things other children have, or the things you want them to have because you never had them as a child.

  • You worry because you can’t save any money.

  • You feel social pressures because you can’t keep up with the neighbor’s lifestyle.

  • You may have family tensions leading to arguments - - husband vs. wife, parents vs. child.

  • You may get flak from your in-laws.

Financial stress can be defined as a condition that occurs whenever income is less than expenditure. If you are a victim of financial stress your only solution to the problem is to balance income and expenditure. This balancing act can take two forms:
(1) either increased income or (2) decreased expenditure.

If you are the only earning member in your family, it can increase your burden all the more. After all, taking care of the needs of your family members is not a joke.

You increase your family income by requesting your spouse and/or educate children to support you financially.

Alternatively, you can reduce your expenditure by cutting down on extravagant things or luxury items. But this requires careful planning and wise budgeting.

In order to make yourself financially stable in the long run, you might have to adopt both options. Apart from balancing the monthly budget, there are things that need serious consideration. Like your children’s education expenses, marriage expenses, your parents medical bills or saving something for yourself in the future. All this requires meticulous planning. And it is advisable to seek an expert’s help, if you find it difficult to handle the investment part of your family budget.

Q #6c - Stressful Relationships...

6c. Stressful Relationships...

Man is a social animal. Everybody needs supportive relationships to get through challenging times. But sometimes the people we love the most can cause us the highest levels of stress. If your partner, family or children are getting you down, here is something for you.

Know your limits
People under stress often find it difficult to differentiate between their 'sphere of command' and their ' sphere of apprehension'. In a car, for example, our 'sphere of command' is our ability to maneuver our car skillfully on a busy road; our ' sphere of apprehension ', on the other hand, might include the worries we might feel if stuck in a traffic jam. We have no command, however, over the latter; the only thing that we can alter is our response to it.

Relationships are the same. We might be 'apprehensive' about our partner, but at the end of the day 'our sphere of command' remains our own behavior. Thinking that we can control a loved one is merely a source of stress.

Leading an aimless life
If you don't know what you want from life, you're more likely to follow those directions that you feel are wrong. To ascertain what really matters to you, write down on a piece of paper all the important ingredients in your life (work, relationships, children, hobbies, dreams, etc.), and then rank them in order from the most to the least important.Once you have properly assessed your values, you will find it much easier to prioritize when conflict arises.

Stop comparing
One of the most stressful habits of modern life is our tendency constantly to compare ourselves to others. But you must remember that even though other families or couples or individuals may look happier, richer or more fulfilled, you will never know what really happens behind closed doors. Trying to compete, or letting others make you feel inferior, stops you concentrating on your own unique talents and goals.

Know when to say ‘NO’
The most difficult in a relationship is to say 'no' to somebody you love. However, if you don't learn to refuse, at least some of the time, you run the risk of becoming overloaded and enraged. It's better to spend some time to consider which requests you are happy to fulfill and which you are not. If you clearly draw the line and show your family members as to what you can fulfill and what not, it helps you avoid getting stressed.

Communicate
Good communication is the key to stress-free relationships. Letting your partner know when you are under pressure, rather than expecting them to guess, can help the whole family plan ahead to lighten the load. Allotting ten minutes each evening for you and your partner to share your experiences of the day and explain its stresses will strengthen your bond and increase the chances of you both feeling understood.

Blame Game
Blame is one of the most baneful habits in relationships. Blaming someone for your mistake creates lot of stress in you. It's natural to argue - and it can be useful to clear the air and update how we feel - but it is essential to learn to forgive. Otherwise, the pain from one day transfers to the next.

If you find it hard to stop blaming your partner, why not try and reframe the dispute and ask yourself, 'What part of the argument is my fault?' Ultimately, we have to take responsibility for our own feelings.

Learn to accept the changes
When your child grows up and learns to handle things independently, learn to accept the changes. Give them the freedom. Do not try to take refuge at home and cling to all that is familiar. We want our partner to remain the same; we don't want our children to grow up and leave home. But unless a relationship changes and grows it will begin to languish, and the great irony is that the more we struggle to keep things the same, the greater the pain we experience. Try to see change at home as an opportunity rather than a threat.

Q #6b ~ Job/Work Stress...

6b. Job/Work Stress

According to a report, in India, nearly 3/4 of the employees believe that workers have more on-the-job stress than a generation ago. If job stress affects the employee personally and professionally, it could affect the employer financially to a great extent.

The employer’s loss could be due to the following factors:
1. Accidents

2. Absenteeism

3. Employee turnover

4. Diminished productivity

5. Direct medical, legal, and insurance costs

6. Worker’s compensation awards, etc.

The factors that cause stress at work can be due to the following factors:
1. The demands of the job

2. Meeting deadlines which could be statutory or self-created

3. The lack of support from colleagues and superiors

4. Their relationships with colleagues

5. Working long hours

6. Boring, mundane and repetitive work

7. Accidents at workplace

8. Uncomfortable workplace

9. Lack of training, whether they understand their roles and responsibilities.

Management’s attitude towards the welfare of the workforce:

  • Juggling between professional and personal or social commitments
  • Overburdened with work
  • Not happy with the salary/perks
  • Not happy with the job/boss
  • Bullying
  • Lack of feedback on performance
  • Value and contribution
  • Technological change
  • Lack of clarity of roles and responsibilities

No one seems to be immune; everyone from every perspective seems to experience some level of stress.

Q #6a - What are STRESSFUL Situations?

6a. What are stressful situations?
There are 4 major areas of stress typical in the average individual's life:

  1. Academic Stress

  2. Work Stress

  3. Relationship Stress

  4. Financial Stress

This issue will cover the 4 areas of stress in 4 separate postings - otherwise its way too long to post as one.

Visit this blog daily this week and you'll find each one posted sequentially until all 4 areas are posted.

Academic Stress
Normally, for a student of any discipline, the examination months and the month during which the results are declared can be safely guessed to be the most stressful period. The stress that the students face might be because of the following factors:

Fear of failing or letting down their parents.
The pressure placed on the students to succeed would be so high that the students unable to bear the pressure fall ill and in worst cases, they even attempt to commit suicide.

  • Not having confidence about the subjects studied.
  • Having extremely high expectations.
  • Comparing one with others.
  • Unrealistic goals set by the parents

Many students begin to feel an overwhelming amount of stress during exams. A little stress can help you stay alert and ready to do your best, but too much stress can cause exhaustion and make your loved one(s) feel miserable. The key to getting through an exam successfully is to find a balance of stress which you can control.

Below are some suggestions for helping you or your preteen/ teenager manage their stress during exams.

Suggestions ~ Before Exams...
1. Make a timetable to organize test dates and study hours.
2. Divide the difficult subjects into smaller portions so that they become easier to study and understand.
3. Eliminate distractions.
4. Avoid idling away the time and reward yourself when you finish a task
5. Eat a balanced diet and try to avoid "stress eating"
6. Get some exercise everyday
7. Try to get at least 6 hours of sleep a night
8. Take time everyday to relax and make sure to take study breaks
9. Watch what you tell yourself- If you change your "Am I going to fail thoughts" to "I'm going to do the best I can," you'll greatly reduce exam anxiety

Suggestions ~ During Exams...
1. Reach the exam hall at least one hour before.
2. Stop studying an hour before the exam.
3. You probably won't learn anything new in an hour, but you might see something you don't know which can cause additional stress and anxiety.
4. Don't talk about the test with other students once you get there. Everyone is anxious before the test and anxiety can be contagious.
5. When you first get the test, take a deep breath and relax.
6. Read the entire test before starting and write down a few notes. This can help jog your memory later as you go through the test.
7. Answers all the questions first which you find easier. Leave the difficult ones for a later time. At least you will score in those questions which are comparatively easier.
8. Do not forget to carry the identity card, admission ticket, etc.
9. Remember managing stress effectively, while you are still young can help prevent diseases in the future.

I hope you learned a few things here and are now better equipped to support someone in your life that needs to study.

6b. Job Stress

Q#5 - 37 Ways to Reduce YOUR STRESS!!

From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), your physical, mental and spiritual health is intimately related to the ability of your body's life energy or Qi (pronounced 'chee'), to flow freely.

Qi is also said to manifest itself in the body as 2 opposing qualities: Yin and Yang. Humans are in dynamic balance with other aspects of nature, we are constantly responding to external and internal influences to maintain balance.
*When we don't adapt, we go out of balance and develop sickness. (Resistance)

Treatments like:
**Acupuncture, Massage, Diet, Herbal Remedies, Exercise, Controlled Breathing, Lifestyle Changes, Mindfulness (being present), and Meditation** are prescribed to restore lost balance and assist you in achieving a healthy, Balanced Life.

This is just a summary that will hopefully give you at least a couple of new insights into your life and inspire you to read more about TCM.

Below is a list of numerous ways you can take action to reduce your Stress Level. If you personally have a different way that you use that works to reduce your stress please post it on the blog for others to benefit from.

37 ways to reduce stress:

  1. Become aware of your own reactions to stress.

  2. Ask for help!

  3. Remove the clutter in your work and home environment!

  4. Reinforce positive self-statements daily.

  5. Focus on your good qualities, strengths and accomplishments.

  6. Avoid unnecessary competition.

  7. Develop assertive behaviors.

  8. Simplify your life and say 'no' way more often.

  9. Recognize and accept your limits. Remember that everyone is unique and different.

  10. Cultivate hobbies that you find interesting. Relax and have fun.

  11. Exercise regularly. ie. dancing, yoga, walking etc.

  12. Eat a balanced diet daily.

  13. Express yourself! Talk with friends or someone you can trust about your worries/problems.

  14. Daily Journaling.. i.e., morning papers etc.

  15. Learn to use your time wisely.

  16. Evaluate/Assess how you're budgeting your time and money.

  17. Avoid emotional spending.. if you're feeling stressed, stay away from shopping of any type!

  18. Plan ahead and avoid idling away the time.

  19. Make a weekly schedule and do your best to follow it.

  20. Set realistic goals: quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily.

  21. Set priorities weekly, then choose your daily priorities.

  22. Recognize that your TO-DO list is not to be finished today.

  23. When studying for an exam, study for short periods and gradually increase the time you spend studying. Take frequent short breaks.

  24. Practice relaxation techniques. For example, whenever you feel tense, slowly breathe in and out for several minutes (this will quiet the mind).

  25. Affirm daily, 'this too shall pass'.

  26. Listen to hypnosis or relaxation CD's daily.

  27. Eliminate TOLERATION from your life as much as possible. Either fix it or Eliminate it. (This is an area that produces -> Huge Energy Drains)

  28. Take an AromaTherapy bath with natural soothing and emotionally healing oils. i.e, sage or lavender

  29. Enjoy a Far Infrared Sauna or scalp massage treatment.

  30. Take a catnap in the early afternoon. (Avoid Sleeping in the later afternoon because it causes you to feel exhausted.)
  31. Connect on a cellular level to the feeling of gratitude for who you are and what you've achieved so far.
  32. Eliminate watching the news on TV...you can learn what's going on in the world through headlines online.

  33. Watch your posture when you sit: avoid hunching over - it reduces your oxygen intake and can cause anxiety.
  34. Oregano Oil - natural anti-biotic that energizes the body (I swear by it!)

  35. Eat onion and garlic - they provide a natural chemical for the body to eliminate/reduce anxiety. (Totally True)
  36. Take action on what you've been avoiding - even a tiny tiny action step...just do something. (Procrastination is a huge energy drain)
  37. When overwhelmed - stop ALL YOU'RE DOING! Review your priorities and focus on ONLY Your Highest Priority in that moment. (Remember to breathe and stay present; thinking about everything else all at the same time makes you VERY NON-PRODUCTIVE.)

Q#2 - Different TYPES of STRESS?

There are five main types of stress that people experience.

  1. Eustress
  2. Distress
  3. Hyperstress
  4. Hypostress
  5. Neustress

1) Eustress
Eustress is a kind of short-term stress that provides immediate strength. Eustress can be defined as a pleasant or curative stress. We can't always avoid stress. There are certain times when we do not want to avoid stress because controlled stress gives us that competitive edge in performance related activities like athletics, giving a speech, or acting, etc.

Eustress arises at points of increased physical activity, enthusiasm, and creativity. Eustress is a positive stress that arises when motivation and inspiration are needed. A gymnast experiences eustress before a competition.

Eustress is a controlled stress that helps give you that extra push that you may need to get the job done, or do your best. Just like you hear some people say they work best under pressure, they are talking about eustress. Eustress can help you focus and concentrate better on the task at hand, giving you that competitive edge, that extra driving force. It can add that measure of motivation to an otherwise dry existence.

The Stress Curve diagram illustrates the concept that, for any performance-related activity, there is an optimal amount of stress. If you are involved in an oral interview for a job, you will benefit from a certain amount of stress. It is stress that provides you with focus and gives you your "competitive edge" that will help you think quickly and clearly and express your thought in ways that will benefit your interview process. Optimum Stress

<--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
No Stress ........Optimum (Eustress) Stress........Maximum Stress

Examples of Eustress
1. Graduating from college
2. Getting married
3. Receiving a promotion
4. Changing jobs for better prospects
5. Winning competition
6. Buying a new home

Such examples of eustress contribute to individual excellence. The benefits of optimal stress, if handled properly, include opportunity for increased growth and maturity, independence and control.

2) Distress
Distress is a negative stress brought about by constant re-adjustments or alterations in a routine. Distress creates feelings of discomfort and unfamiliarity.

There are two types of distress.
  1. Acute stress is an intense stress that arrives and disappears quickly.
  2. Chronic stress is a prolonged stress that exists for weeks, months, or even years.
Someone who is constantly relocating or changing jobs may experience distress.

Examples of distress:

  • Chronic Pain
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Lack of meaningful friendship
  • Cramming for exams
  • Having too much to do at work
  • Troubled relationships
  • Expressed hopelessness, anxiety or grief, etc.

Basically, distress is your body’s way of responding to what it views as a tragic or upsetting event in your life. It can affect both your physical and your mental health, especially for chronic sufferers.

Distress can interfere with your concentration; can lead to excessive absences from school and work, and can often make sufferers become very hard to get along with, even for friends and family members.

3) Hyperstress

Hyperstress is an excessive amount of stress. It occurs when an individual is pushed beyond what he or she can handle. Hyperstress results from being overloaded or overworked. When someone is hyperstressed, even little things can trigger a strong emotional response. A Wall Street trader is likely to experience hyperstress.

The most common sufferers of hyperstress are those who are overloaded trying to juggle children, careers, marriages, so much so, that one more little incidence could very easily push them over the edge. Mothers are often victims of hyperstress, as they may work and care for the home, husband, and children, or they may stay at home, plus juggle marriage and the demands of motherhood.

4) Hypostress
Hypostress is the opposite of hyperstress. Hypostress occurs when an individual is bored or unchallenged. People who experience hypostress are often restless and uninspired. A factory worker who performs repetitive tasks might experience hypostress. Hypostress happens when you suffer from extreme boredom, or when you have nothing in your life that stimulates you anymore. If you go to work everyday at the same time, same place, and perform the same repetitive work, then you are likely to suffer from hypostress. When you lack stimulation or have an unchallenging job or if you are over satisfied with your job, you might be suffering from hypostress.

5) Neustress
Neustress is neutral stress, neither good nor bad.
Neustress describes sensory stimuli that have no consequential effect, neither good nor bad. This kind of stress arises when a tornado hits an unoccupied island. It is a kind of stress which has no significant consequence. Also, from the scientific point of view, it has no real meaning.

Your Business: FREE eBook Download ~ 'The Irresistable Offer'

You've probably heard of his book "The Irresistible Offer" - it's what some call "one of the top 5 marketing books ever written"and has been one of the best-selling marketing books of the last3 years week after week.

Some book marketers believe that if they give away an electronic version of their book they ultimately boost sales of their books. If that's true, all YOU published authors out there, consider doing the same and see for yourself.

Are they right? Only time will tell...

There are many people who are in agreement with this model - saying over the last few years the relationship between giving away digital downloads and the increase in sales by print media has been closely linked.

I'll be watching this one closely and curiously of course.

In the meantime, grab your FREE copy by downloading "The Irresistible Offer" now while this opportunity is still available.

Dr. Joe Vitale said that the book is "the first breakthrough inover 50 years" and it seems the entire pantheon of marketing gurus are in agreement.

To your Success!

Q#1 - What is STRESS?

"Nothing gives one person so much advantage over another as to remain always cool and unruffled under all circumstances." ~Thomas Jefferson

Stress has become such an inseparable part of our lives that most people often fail to realize that they have been living under stress. At one point or the other everybody suffers from stress.

Relationship demands, physical as well as mental health problems, pressure at workplaces, traffic snarls, meeting deadlines, growing-up tensions—all of these conditions and situations are convincing causes of stress. People have their own methods of stress management. In some people, stress-induced inimical feelings and distress tend to persist and intensify. Learning to understand and master stress management techniques can help prevent the adverse effects of this urban debility.

In the next few months you will receive the flollowing articles to help you reduce the Negative Stress in your day to day life:
  1. What is stress?
  2. Different types of stress
  3. What are Stressors?
  4. How to recognize stress?
  5. Checklist for determining your vulnerability to stress?
  6. What are stressful situations?
  7. What happens when you are stressed out?
  8. Can stress be eliminated from your life?
  9. Some stress management techniques
  10. When should you seek professional help for your stress?

1. What is stress?

STRESS can be defined as a form of tension or strain in the body or the mind for which there is no release or outlet. When under stress, one is like a car in the neutral gear with the accelerator on, trying to exert initially, but unable to do so .

Stress is also defined as mental, physical, emotional tension, strain or distress. Stress is a fact of life. However too much stress can result in the breakdown of a person’s physical, mental and emotional health. It has physical and emotional effects on us and can create positive or negative energy.

But not all stress is bad. Stress can have positive effects too. In fact, stress is a very natural and important part of life. Human body is designed to react to two types of stress.

Good stress helps keep us alert, motivates us to face challenges, and drives us to solve problems. These low levels of stress are manageable and can be thought of as necessary and normal stimulation.

However, Distress, on the other hand, results when our bodies overreact to events.

Next week - #2 "Different types of stress"

Q: Boundaries Part 5 - "Timing is Everything"

"We don't deal much with facts when we are
contemplating ourselves." ~ Mark Twain

Setting boundaries requires that you pick the BEST TIME to meet with your team, colleagues, employer, employee, spouse, family member or children.

Mentally plan a win/win outcome before you even start your communication. Consider what the other person would consider a win for him/her and how they will benefit too by you setting better boundaries with them.

Starting such a dialogue can feel very awkward and uncomfortable especially if you're concerned about the other person's response. ie. anger.

To ensure you have a healthy adult to adult communication, make sure you avoid words that express blame. ie., its your fault or you never listen.

11 Steps - To Effective Expression of Feelings:
  1. On your own, connect with your heart and the importance of that person to you.
  2. Begin your dialogue with sincerity, connecting from your heart and consciously desiring a win/win outcome and not a win/lose.
  3. Notice your tone of voice as you speak ensuring it is gentle and calm.
  4. Make sincere loving eye contact.
  5. DEFINE what you want from the listener. "I only need you to hear me right now and not try to find a solution."
  6. Speak about yourself and how you're feeling and avoid using 'you' words as much as possible. "I want you to know how I'm feeling right now...I am upset or angry because..."
  7. Share the importance of your honesty and integrity with yourself. "I need to be honest with myself and with you because..."
  8. Take ownership for any given situation - that means putting the blame on you vs the other person. "I apologize that I have not shown much enthusiasm when you speak with me" vs. "you always ignore me when you walk into the room."
  9. Connect with what you ultimately want. "I want to love and be loved in my life again." vs. "You never listen to anything that matters to me"
  10. Learn to be comfortable with all your emotions. If you wish to live in balance - then you'll need to feel anger, sadness and plenty of those emotions most people pretend they don't have. Don't make them wrong! They are automatic responses. Give yourself permission to feel all of your emotions and express them in healthy ways instead of bottling them inside you and harming your health and relationship too. Losing your Self Respect, Self Confidence and Self Esteem is huge price tag!
  11. Be sincere and open about your discomfort with you're feelings. "What I'm about to share with you is uncomfortable for me and you may not initially like what I have to say, please simply hear me out..."

Keep in mind - if you are emotionally charged, you will be very ineffective in expressing and setting good boundaries. If you need to vent - do so by walking, exercise, punching a bag or screaming into a pillow to let out your steam, before you speak to anyone. Otherwise, you will not be able to have the calm and connection to express yourself effectively.

And oh you fellows, you might not have to say anything or solve her problems as she's expresses her frustrations. By simply listening without making any comments at all -that may be all she needs from you. So NO need to fret and try to help her find the solution...all she needs from you sometimes is "LISTENING" ~ now that was easy!

Q: Setting Boundaries Part 4 - Saying 'NO'

'No' - a tiny word that packs quite the punch and is feared by most people...why? Because without learning how to say 'no' again, you will NOT achieve healthy boundaries.

Why do most of us resist using this tiny word? For the most part - we are avoiding the feelings of 'Guilt.'

Next time before you answer 'yes' - I suggest you ask yourself the following question: "Why am I saying 'yes' to this question?" Is it to genuinely help out, needing to look good or am I repeating my old patters that cause me stress?

By saying 'no' - all your past programming will surface - just notice what your mind and feelings start telling you:

  • How could you not be generous and say yes?

  • How selfish of you (Guilt)

  • Now what is that person thinking of you?

  • Now you can be more useful and important by doing this?

  • What to go for being rude and impolite

Here are 10 Tips for saying 'no':

  1. Make cue cards with your potential answers &
Practice daily verbally saying your 'no' script

  2. Keep the cue card handy where you usually need to say 'no'.
ie. beside your phone at work and at home.

  3. Take time to respond - eg. "Let me check my calendar first and get back to you."

  4. Make the answer of 'no' about you and not their cause or question. eg. "Thanks for your offer and I really need ot say 'no' for me."

  5. Create a policy statement (makes you sound official): If businesses do, why no you?
eg. "We have a policy to only support children's charities and our portfolio for donations is full at the moment."

  6. Honor your priorities and put your foot down to what matters most to you. eg. "say 'no' to interruptions at dinner or having the work cell phone on after 7pm."

  7. Be Brief: No need to give a full detail explanation as to why you need to say no. Simply say 'no thank you' and continue being in your power by managing the voices inside your head by saying mentally, "No is my right to say and exercise."

  8. Build your 'no' muscle: Develop the habit of saying 'no' every day to smaler requests so that you get the necessary practice to grow your 'no' muscle to say 'no' to bigger requests. Remember buy time, if you're not strong enough yet.

  9. Use other mediums: If you don't have the strength at first to say 'no' verbally, say it using a different medium - ie. email, letter or voice/text message. Remember to keep this brief too.

  10. Manage your mind frick: when we exercise our right to say 'no', our minds may send us guilty messages from old habits. Simply reply mentally, 'Thank you for sharing. This is for the best. My rights are important and need honoring too."

If you practice all of these steps, you will experience a new level of self esteem and self confidence and people will respect you more - guaranteed! Even if they are disappointed by your answer of 'no' - you will still have their respect for speaking your truth!

Are you listening? Intuition 101

Did you know that you're intuition is working 100% of the time?
Well, it is. . . but are you really listening?

Many coaching clients are looking for too many answers outside themselves. They attend seminar after seminar - looking for the pot of gold. Does this sound like you? Ther reason: they have been convinced by most marketers that the answers are outside of them. So they jump on board the ongoing wagon of courses one after the other.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge advocate of on going learning! What I'm saying here, is once you attend a training of any sort, go out and do something with it - take ACTION! Instead of jumping from one training to the next with no time for reflection and absorption - this will likely leave you feeling incomplete.

I've been asked many different coaching questions. . . and though I have lots of answers, I encourage each client to always answer their own question first. This builds trusting and empowers them to go within for their intuitive answer.

Why? Because your intuition is there for a reason and it's always working 100% of the time.

So I have a great question for you to ponder this week to practice listening to your intuition.
"What has to happen for me to consistently keep commitments to myself?"
  1. Spend 15 minutes every day this week contemplating this question in quiet/silence either in meditation or out in nature and listen for the answer.
  2. Trust yourself.
  3. Release your attachment of needing to know the answer right away. Your perfect answer might come in 15 minutes or 15 days, so pay attention and give yourself the space and quiet to hear the gentle low voice of intuition!

Warning: the answer might scare you (because it is something way outside your comfort zone) and that's ok.

Baby steps.

I invite you to post your intuitive answers on my blog and together let's help support one another to trust and grow our intuition!

Peacefully,
Nada

Q: Boundaries Part 3 ~ Are you a Brick Wall or Willow Tree?

The quality of strength, lined with tenderness,
is an unbeatable combination." ~ Maya Angelou

Healthy boundaries are flexible boundaries like a Willow tree that bends in the wind; not rigid brick walls that keep every emotion - positive or negative out.

Brick walls keep you emotionally bottled up and prevent you from experience deep fulfilling love, meeting good people and experiencing many joyful aspects of life. Having said that, moderation is absolutely key!

SOME OF Boundaries MUST be rigid and non-negotiable without exception:
Example: it's never ok for others to lie, cheat or hit you when they're angry.

And other boundaries need to be flexible sometimes. Healthy boundaries need to develop gradually and with cooperation of your partner, colleagues, children etc. This is not a dictatorship!

Great boundaries are best described in the following 13 step example:
Someone who:

  • speaks openly and honestly with their feelings even if the listener(s) may be disappointed.
  • loves and respects themselves ~ by what thoughts they entertain to what food or snack they eat daily.
  • stays true to themselves even if they end up alone temporarily
  • is trusted/respected by others for living with integrity
  • knows their worth is in who they are and not what or how much they make or own.
  • knows who and what is important in their life and they act accordingly
  • is clearly grounded and operate from their values vs. people pleasing
  • has the strength to say 'no' easily to anyone or anything that conflicts with those values.
  • takes full responsibility for their choices & actions ~ positive or negative
  • is courageous to say "I don't know...or I need help"
  • allows and empowers others to take responsibility for themselves
  • understands loving others beyond the point of love leads to resentment and anger.
  • takes care of themself so that they are happier, healthier and more complete and whole in their relationship.
  • they are responsible to have their own needs met not their partner

Now that sounds easy, right? Ya right... The process is simple but not always easy to implement. If you start now, and commit to this process of change, it will become easier and easier for you to achieve a more content and balanced life.

Keep in mind, this process requires your commitment and patience with yourself. If you're willing to do the work, you will gradually teach everyone around you - how you wish to be treated. If you're going to be hard nosed about what you want and when you want it, this will be a very painful process.

the choice is always yours!
